All Items here are items that I not only recommend but also use personally to take care of my own fursuits

Recommended Items

General Care

Brush your suit! Keeping the suit brushed will keep your suit soft and fluffy and looking pretty for longer. Suits come with a slicker brush and metal comb.

Always brush with the fur direction.

High friction areas will have matting and need a little extra brushing. The metal comb is fantastic for this.

Start at the tips of the fur and go farther as you untangle the fibers

Use fursuit spray. Either buy or make it with 70% isopropyl alcohol and water. To make it 50/50 with an optional few drops of a scent oil. To dry, keep suit parts open for about 10 minutes.

Use suit spray after each use. Wash your suit before and after cons or after a few smaller events. No one wants to hug a stinky suit.

Do not leave your suit in a hot car. It can cause severe damage to your suit. Especially the head. The heat of a car can cause glue to loosen and can in many cases melt or distort 3d printed parts such as the eyes

Do not let your head get crushed, this can cause permanent damage.

Heads are lined for comfort  however It is recommended to wear a balaclava in your suit head. This will keep your heads lasting longer and help keep them clean.

Prepping for Wash

Turn bodysuits inside out.

Put hand paws in a white zip up pillow case this will keep claws from catching things they shouldn’t.                    important for 3d printed claws

Most tails that are larger than a nub tail will have a zipper somewhere on the underside to remove and adjust the stuffing. You don’t have to remove the stuffing but it will dry faster.

Feet paws and heads I do not recommend putting into the washing machine as they are bulky. Tub wash these or use a spot cleaner such as the Bissell Little Green

Washing

Both front and top load washers will work. machines with no center agitator are best. No you don’t have to get a new machine you just have to be more careful

If you do have the center agitator keep loads very light

Use the delicate setting with cold water ONLY!!

Do NOT use hot water this will cause irreparable damage to the fur fibers of your suit.

Especially if you are using a spot cleaner or tub washing, remember to rinse!

Use a delicate detergent, I recommend Woolite or Amway liquid SA8 (the SA8 is very concentrated, a little will go a long way)

I personally use Woolite for the general cleaning and the SA8 for heavy cleaning

Washing the head

Tub wash or use the Bissell Little Green.

Our eyes are a painted vinyl mesh with a layer of sealer. They can survive being wet however still be gentle so you don’t end up scraping the paint off. Don’t waterboard your poor suit.

For extra protection fo the eyes you can stuff the eyes with paper towels

Drying

Don’t put any part of your suit into the dryer, EVER, for any reason. Just no.

Spin cycle on the washer will get most of the water out.

Another option to help get water out will be to wrap items in a towel (do not do this with the head) and gently press the water out. Be sure not to break claws

Hang dry is best. Brush gently while the suit is damp to keep the suit fluffy. Brush every so often while it is drying.

Fans will help immensely when drying your suit.

I recommend getting a wetsuit dryer for body suits. It's basically a big hanger with a fan in it. I also recommend getting a glove and boot dryer from dry guy. It is a dryer with 4 stacks that is perfect for drying heads and paws.
